We are a small, family run cookery school and catering company, set in the tranquil farmlands of East Lothian. We offer exquisite dining events and educational experiences, using local Scottish produce.
Our kids and teen classes offer a safe, fun space to develop key life skills. Adult classes are privately booked, offering an opportunity to gain inspiration in the kitchen with your friends and family.
We offer exceptional food and memorable events using the best local ingredients. Our bespokely adjusted menus are beautifully presented and served.
We specialise in online, and in person corporate experiences. Based 40 minutes from the heart of Edinburgh we offer an idyllic setting for away days, whilst online classes can be accessed from anywhere in the world.
Yarrow Cookery was established in 2020 by Richard and Sophia. The couple welcomed their first baby, Lyra Jean, in 2021, who is part of the welcoming committee at the cookery school. Richard and Sophia share a love of teaching and an eye for detail, which make their events stand out.
Their founding ethos is to share the joy of food and culinary education, using local and sustainable, East Lothian produce.
Richard studied at both The Orchard and Ballymaloe cookery schools', going on to train in a variety of kitchens and restaurants. His charisma and kindness make him an excellent chef and teacher. Richard is particularly passionate about child education, where he hopes to make an impact on developing key life skills.
Sophia's background in wellness enables her to bring an enchanted feel to catering events and classes. Sophia looks after the online and behind the scenes elements of Yarrow Cookery. Sophia is on hand at every event to ensure all clients are looked after, holistically.
Together Richard and Sophia combine their skills seamlessly, creating very special outcomes. Their clients can feel confident and relaxed when working or learning with this dynamic duo.
"We had a great private cookery class with Richard, cooking a delicious 3-course seasonal menu. I enjoyed the hands on approach (the best way to learn!) and I'm looking forward to trying some of the recipes out at home. The raspberry soufflé in particular was incredible!"
