Open Fire frequently asked questions

We aim to answer your questions below, however there may be things you want to know that we have not covered. Pease don't hesitate to contact us if that's the case. We look forward to hearing from you!

Where can you find us?

We will meet at 10.20am in the Balgone Estate car park. Simply follow google directions https://g.page/balgone-pumpkins?share

What will I be cooking?

We aim to give you a rough description of the menu on the booking page, however we select seasonal and local produce meaning that we have to roll with what nature is offering in certain cases. We ensure you will have plenty to cook and won't go hungry!

What will I be doing?

You will be learning how to cook on the open fire. You will also have the freedom to roam around the Balgone woodland/lakes at your leisure.

How long will the event last?

As this is a new class for us we are in the trial phase. We estimate the class will run for approximately 4 hours.

What is included in the price

All the food, a freshly made local cordial and herbal teas. Please bring any additional drinks you would like, we kindly ask that you take your rubbish with you.

How many people will be there?

This class has a capacity of 14 people. Please note that this can be booked as a private event, simply get in touch via our contact page.

What happens if it rains?

We are a wild fire cooking experience, we aim to continue the event even if it rains! We do have rain covering and a rustic log cabin to gain shelter.  If the weather is extremely problematic e.g. storms or harsh winds the class will be rescheduled at a later date.

What should I wear?

As dining will take place outdoors and you will be walking for some of the time you are advised to wear comfortable loose fitting clothing that you don't mind getting a little bit dirty. We also strongly advise comfortable weatherproof shoes. Please take note of the weather and dress accordingly.

I am a vegetarian or have special dietary requirements, is this suitable?

If you are a vegan or vegetarian we recommend booking the cooking with veg class. The cooking with meat/fish will not be adapted for vegetarians/vegans.

If you have an allergy please contact us as soon as possible. We aim to cater for all allergies however due to the rustic nature of the venue this is not always possible

If you have a strong dislike for any particular foods, let us know as this can usually  be adapted to.

Can we camp over?

No

What is your cancellation policy?

We reserve the right to cancel your booking for any reason; this includes, amongst others, dangerous weather, safety issues and unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel, we aim to give customers as much notice as possible. Please note we offer guests the opportunity to rebook a future event at the same price within the next 12 months as compensation.

If you need to cancel your booking for any reason we require a weeks notice due to the purchasing of produce. If you give us more than 48 hours notice we will be able to transfer you onto a class later in that calendar year. Unfortunately if you need to cancel after the 48 hour window we would be unable to refund or exchange your ticket due to our overhead costs. Please get in touch with any questions you may have.

Is the event suitable for young babies or children?

Children under the age of 16 are welcome if accompanied by an adult or guardian
